The original chocolate Fantasy Fudge recipe from the back of the marshmallow creme package from long ago. The best homemade chocolate fudge!
This is the original Fantasy Fudge recipe that my family has been making since the 1980’s. It is a staple at every Christmas Bake Day. Leave it plain or add walnuts if you want!
The Original Fantasy Fudge Recipe
Print RecipeIngredients
- 3 cups white granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup of unsalted butter
- 2/3 cups evaporated milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (1 12-ounce package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 7-ounce jar marshmallow creme
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I used Rodelle Baker’s Extract)
Instructions
Line a 9-inch X 9-inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper and spray with baking spray. Set aside.
Place a medium to large pot on the stovetop under medium heat, and add the sugar, butter, milk and salt. Stir the mixture constantly until it reaches a rolling boil. Once it reaches a boil, place a candy thermometer in the mixture and continue to cook on medium heat, continuously stirring, until mixture reaches 234-degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 4-minutes).
Remove pot from stove and stir in the chocolate chips, marshmallow creme and vanilla extract. Continue stirring until fully incorporated. If adding walnuts, fold the walnuts into the candy.
Pour mixture out into prepared pan and let set at room temperature for at least 5-hours before cutting into desired sized pieces.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Fudge stays fresh for 7-10 days.
