Sugar Coma Bars are like those fantastic seven-layer bars or magic bars, as they are sometimes called. But I amped it up a notch or two with my spin on them! These bars start out with a cookie crumb layer, three cups of chopped up toffee, milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and then drowned in a can of sweetened condensed milk. Pull up a chair, put some stretchy pants on and lets dive into this recipe!
This is such an easy recipe to make and no mixer required. You are literally just layering all of the ingredients in a 9×13-inch pan and baking for 25-minutes. SO EASY! Which makes these soooooo dangerous!
Sugar Coma Bars
Print RecipeIngredients
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups of chocolate chip cookie crumbs (like Chips Ahoy)
- 3 cups toffee, chopped into chunks (or see note below for substitutions)
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Line a 9x13-inch pan with foil and spray the bottom and sides of the pan liberally with baking spray. Set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, mix together your melted butter and cookie crumbs. Spread the cookie crumb mixture out onto the bottom of the prepared pan. It's okay if it doesn't completely cover the bottom of the pan. Evenly sprinkle the toffee chunks, milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips and butterscotch chips over the cookie crumb mixture. Drizzle the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top of the bars.
Bake in 350-degree oven for 25-27 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Remove from oven and let set in the pan for several hours or overnight. Cut into desired squares.
Notes
Instead of the toffee chunks, you can substitute 1 cup chopped pecans, 1-1/2 cups toffee baking bits (like Heath baking bits) and a 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips (in addition to the one cup already in the recipe). Placing the bars in the refrigerator to firm up for several minutes helps to get clean slices when cutting the bars into squares. Store bars at room temperature in an airtight container. Bars stay fresh for several days.
So easy to make and great for a crowd! Pin this, share the recipe and MAKE THESE! You won’t be sorry!
XOXO,
Kelly
