This super easy Pico de Gallo recipe is so good, I can eat it by the forkful, no chips needed! Fresh tomatoes, chili’s, onion, cilantro and a dash of lime, salt and sugar are all the ingredients you need for this easy recipe. And this is actually a family recipe that I am beyond excited to share with you today!
My dad has been making this “salsa” for years!! Every time mom and dad invite us kids over for lunch or dinner, I always ask if daddy-o will make his salsa. And of course, my dad never disappoints. I have asked my dad to make this salsa for me so many times, he finally wrote the recipe down for me:
I will forever keep this handwritten recipe from my dad. Seeing his handwriting just makes me smile.
This salsa has become a family favorite in our house and the boys now ask me to make it. The recipe is so simple and takes only about 30-minutes to chop everything and put together! I used Roma tomatoes in my Pico de Gallo, but use any ripe tomato you want!
Pico de Gallo
Print RecipeIngredients
- 8 Roma tomatoes, deseeded and diced
- 2 tablespoons white onion, finely diced
- 5 hot chili peppers, deseeded and finely diced (I use Mezzetta's jarred Hot Chili Peppers)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Instructions
In a medium sized bowl, add the diced tomatoes, onion, chili peppers and cilantro. Stir. Pour lime juice over the top and add the salt and sugar. Stir to combine all the ingredients. Store in the refrigerator for at least 30-minutes prior to serving, to allow the ingredients to marry.
Store salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
You can control the heat level by reducing the number of hot chili's you use.
So you can totally eat this Pico de Gallo with chips as an appetizer, but I make and eat it anytime I make grilled pork tenderloin, grilled fish and chicken. A forkful of perfectly grilled pork tenderloin with Pico de Gallo is Mmmmm. I swear it goes with everything!!
Store in a jar in the fridge…if you have any leftovers that is! I hope y’all try this Mikolich family recipe!!
XOXO,
Kelly
