Chex Party Mix is a fun little party snack that is easy to make and yields a large amount. This Chex Party Mix is a mixture of Peanut Butter Chex, Reese’s Puffs cereal, pretzel pieces and milk chocolate chips. The mix is then generously coated with a caramel-y sugar mixture. Pure YUM!
So when making this, make sure you find the LARGEST bowl you have in your kitchen. Otherwise you will have a hard time coating the cereal with the sugar mixture. Trust me on this. From experience. I make these mistakes so you don’t have to hahaha.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chex Party Mix
Print RecipeIngredients
- 1 (12-ounce) box Peanut Butter Chex cereal
- 2 cups Reese's Puffs cereal
- 1-1/2 cups pretzel pieces
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I used Rodelle Gourmet Vanilla)
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Instructions
Line two large sheet pans with silicon baking mats or foil sprayed with baking spray. In a large bowl combine the Chex, Reese's Puffs and pretzel pieces. Set aside.
In a large pot on the stovetop over medium heat, add the butter, sugar, corn syrup and peanut butter. Stir mixture occasionally until the mixture reaches a rolling boil. Once the mixture comes to a boil, set timer for 2-1/2 minutes and stir the mixture continuously. Remove mixture from the stovetop and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Slowly pour the sugar mixture over the cereal in the bowl, stirring to evenly distribute the sugar mixture over the cereal and pretzel pieces. Wait 5-minutes and fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the mixture out into an even layer on the prepared pans. Let the mixture set for 3-4 hours, or until mixture has cooled and semi-hardened. Break into desired sized chunks or pieces.
Notes
Store Chex mix in an airtight container or in large Ziplock bags. Mix stays fresh for several days.
I like to line a few baking sheets with silicon baking mats to pour the mixture out onto because it’s easier for clean-up and the party mix doesn’t stick to it!
A handful of this party mix will give you crunch from the cereal, saltiness from the pretzels and sweetness from the chocolate chips and caramel-y coating.
So whether you are hosting a party or going to one this holiday season, make Chex Party Mix a part of the party! If you are looking for a savory Chex Party Mix….I got ya covered there too!
