Peanut Butter Chex made into an amazing cereal treat, with the addition of butterscotch chips, marshmallows, chocolate chips and butterscotch sauce. Ooey and gooey and worth the whole 5-minutes these babies take to make!
Peanut Butter Butterscotch Chex Cereal Treats
Print RecipeIngredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 (16-ounce) bag mini marshmallows, divided
- 1/3 cup butterscotch chips
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups Peanut Butter Chex
- 2 cups Rice Krispies
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
- 2 tablespoons butterscotch sundae sauce
Instructions
Line a 9x13-inch pan with foil and spray the bottom and sides with baking spray.
In a large pot on the stovetop, over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the marshmallows, reserving 1/2 cup of the marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted.
Remove from the stovetop and stir in the butterscotch chips, peanut butter, vanilla extract and salt. Stir until completely combined. Add the Peanut Butter Chex and Rice Krispies, one cup at a time, completely stirring each cup into the mixture before adding the next cup. Stir in the remaining marshmallows and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.
Pour mixture into prepared pan, spreading the mixture into an even layer. Top with the remaining chocolate chips and butterscotch sundae sauce.
Let treats set for 1-2 hours before cutting into desired sized squares.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
Super sticky….but worth the extra napkins!!
XOXO,
Kelly
