A non-dairy soda bread, made using oat flour, curdled unsweetened almond milk, baking soda and salt. This bread is yeast-free dairy-free, fat-free, sugar-free and vegan. I even topped my bread with a sprinkling of Trader Joes Everything Bagel Seasoning for extra flavor. This bread is super simple to make and bakes up in less than 25-minutes.
Ready. Set. Bake! So bread baking is all the rage right now. But if you are looking for an easy-to-make bread recipe that takes less than an hour to make and bake, then here ya go. I recently made a Healthy Soda Bread recipe, but wanted to try that same recipe, but with oat flour instead of all-purpose flour.
I loved the nuttiness the oat flour gave this bread, but found the bread a tad bit denser than the bread I made using all-purpose flour. But I am one of those weird people that likes dense bread, that is almost still a bit under-baked. To each his own. I just liked the flavor of this brad so much, I still wanted to share it with you.
Also, add your favorite herbs or seasonings on top before baking. I had some Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning that i sprinkled on top and the flavor of the bread was SO. DAMN. GOOD.
Oat Flour Soda Bread
Print RecipeIngredients
- 1/2 cup milk (any variety---I used unsweetened almond milk)
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1-1/3 cups oat flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- TOPPING:
- Option to sprinkle on your seasoning or dried herbs of choice
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400-degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. In a small bowl, add the milk and white vinegar. Allow the mixture to sit for 10-15 minutes or until curdled.
In a large bowl stir together the oat flour, baking soda and salt. Once the milk has curdled, slowly stir the milk into the dry ingredients. The dough will be sticky. Gently knead the dough 10 times and dump out onto prepared baking sheet.
Form the dough into the size of a loaf of bread, approximately 3-inches by 12-inches (doesn't have to be exact). Use a sharp knife to make slits across the top. Add your choice of seasonings or dried herbs on top (if using).
Bake in 400-degree oven for 23-25 minutes. Bread does not get golden brown. Remove bread from the oven and let set for an hour before cutting into slices. Or just rip warm chunks of bread off fresh from the oven and eat. You do you.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at rom temperature. Eat within 1-2 days.
XOXO,
Kelly

July 27, 2020 at 8:14 AMOoh, Kelly! I love a good soda bread recipe! Oat flour is a good sub for wheat flour, too! Like you, I find a dense bread irresistible, especially for toast! Nice recipe!
