Homemade Butterfingers

Homemade Butterfingers using candy corn, peanut butter, molasses and cornflakes…and then made in the microwave in just minutes. Once the candy has set, they are enrobed in smooth milk chocolate.

The secret ingredient to making Butterfingers? Candy corn! I prefer using Brach’s brand because it is also my favorite candy to eat. So definitely stock up during Halloween, so you can make these all year round.

The thinner you make these, the more the consistency is like an actual Butterfinger. I made mine thick and they were a bit chewy.

Best way to coat the candy is by using a milk chocolate candy coating like CandiQuik!

Serves: 10 Cooking Time: 2-3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups candy corn
  • 1-1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons mild molasses
  • 1/4 finely crushed cornflake cereal
  • 1 cup milk chocolate coating (I used CANDIQUIK)

Instructions

1

Line a 9x13-inch pan with foil and spray with baking spray. Set aside.

2

In a microwave safe bowl, add the candy corn, peanut butter and molasses. Microwave for 2-3 minutes, stopping every 30-seconds to stir the mixture. Continue until the candy corn has completely melted and the ingredients are incorporated.

3

Remove from the microwave and stir in the cornflake cereal.

4

Press mixture into a thin layer in prepared pan. The thinner the layer, the crunchier the candy will turn out. The mixture will not cover the entire pan, just spread into the thickness you desire.

5

Let the candy set for one hour. Cut into desired sized pieces. Melt the milk chocolate in the microwave and dip the Butterfingers into the melted chocolate, coating them. Set on a strip of foil and allow chocolate to set before eating.

Notes

Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
