Hi friends! Lets talk chocolate for a second! What happens when you’re feeling a little low during the day? Whether it’s your mood, a long day at work or maybe simply the prospect of a daunting task, there’s something you can always rely on: CHOCOLATE. While it might seem difficult to believe right now, after the over-indulgence of the Easter season, but chocolate can actually bring you happiness (hello bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs!!!). Now chocolate can’t replace a happy relationship or an exciting career, but it can certainly lift your mood (endorphins!), in less time than it takes to call up a friend to vent your woes. Here are the many reasons why you can count on chocolate when you need it most.
The quick pick-me-up: Everybody knows that chocolate is not just yummy, it can genuinely lift your mood. As a result, it can be difficult to know whether you’re craving chocolate for its delicious taste or its incredible mood-lifting properties. But, one thing is for sure, chocolate is quick to have a positive effect – assuming you don’t over-indulge, of course. In fact, it can take as little as 3 minutes for a quick taste of chocolate to soothe your sorrows. It is, by far, the quickest remedy to make a terrible day feel good again. Admittedly, it’s a temporary fix, and it won’t replace professional help or medication (so don’t be replacing your depression meds with chocolate). But if you’ve had a bad day at work, you can come home and whip up a comforting chocolate chip cookie mug cake to bake in your microwave oven in just a few minutes. The result? You’ll feel that chocolate satisfaction, and get out of that funk you were in. Who wouldn’t want to curl up on the couch with a warm mug cake and a spoon??
The gift that keeps on giving: Chocolate makes an excellent gift, especially for a last minute celebration – or for those parties you accidentally forgot until it was almost too late. The reason why chocolate can make the ideal present is that, if you decide to go for quality chocolate – such as Brazil’s favorite treat, the bite-sized Brigadeiros – you’re guaranteed to put a smile on your friend’s or relative’s face. Besides, there’s something precious about a box of chocolates, which comes from the days where cocoa and sugar were reserved for the wealthier classes of the society. Luckily cocoa is no longer reserved for the wealthy…so now we can all enjoy! Sending a box of chocolates to a friend is like delivering a healthy dose of happiness, and who wouldn’t want that?
The beautifying chocolate miracle: Chocolate doesn’t only taste good, it’s also full of goodness for your skin and hair too. In fact, cocoa is packed with antioxidants, which can help to repair your cells from within, but can also be used as a topical application. You can indulge with a decadent chocolate truffle moisturizer, which revives the skin and the senses at the same time (and no calories involved). If you close your eyes, some say that you can even feel as if you were in a chocolatier’s shop! Surprisingly enough, you’ll soon notice an improvement, not only in the firmness and softness of our skin but also in your mood. I am way overdue for a spa night and a cocoa facial sounds amazing to me!
So there ya go! Chocolate can bring happiness in several different ways. So it’s time to update your dictionary…happiness is spelled C.H.O.C.O.L.A.T.E.!
