Today I am taking a little break from all things food to talk about organization. If you know me, then you know I LOVE to organize. Yes I am weird. So after finally organizing my pantry, I thought I would share my tips with you, so you can have the organized pantry of your dreams too! Plus I am sharing my before and after pictures….from pantry chaos to pantry organization.
So I have a confession to make. What sold me on my new house was the pantry. It is HUGE! I thought I could never fill all those shelves up, but boy was I wrong. I mean who are we kidding?! I am a baker with 10,000 different baking pans and tools. And of course every different kind of flour, sugar and extract there is. But after moving in several months ago, and just kind of placing everything on the shelves to get it unboxed, it started to bug me.
I had a hodgepodge of bins in the pantry, none of which matched or were labeled. So I jumped on Target.com and saw that containers just happened to be on sale….so I ordered 20 of the same exact containers. I wanted the pantry to have a uniform look, all in one color and size. But being as excited as I was to organize the pantry, I drove over to Target to buy whatever bins they had there as well. Target only had four of the same bins I bought online, so I bought those too. I definitely recommend buying online so that you can get the quantity you need because the store likely won’t have that many.
The containers I ordered aren’t the pretty, clear plastic ones that are all Pinterest-y perfect. Nope. Let’s be realistic. With a kid (and husband), not being able to see inside the bins will keep my sanity. So I bought mini chalkboard signs off Amazon to make the contents clear to the rest of the family.
I attached the mini chalkboards to the bins with my handy-dandy glue gun. Create bins in whatever categories suit you and your familys’ needs. In our house we love cookies, candy and snacks hahaha.
EASY PANTRY ORGANIZATION:
-
Determine the size and number of storage bins you need
-
Decide on the contents to go in each bin
-
Label the bins
-
Add contents to bins
-
Sit back and admire your organized pantry!
Ahhhh…..organization 🙂
This easy project cost me less than $150 and took me less than two hours to organize. So worth it!! I am not done organizing in the pantry though. What you don’t see is the other half of the pantry that extends around the corner. That has all my baking pans, cookbooks and cake decorating gadgets. So I need at least another five more bins to get the rest of the pantry done.
I just had to share this with you because it was so easy and is a very family-friendly way to stay semi-organized in the pantry!
XOXO,
Kelly

January 17, 2019 at 11:34 AMThat looks amazing, Kelly! Way to go! We used to have a nice-sized pantry in WA and then when we moved to Maine I had a small pantry in the kitchen and several HUGE shelving units in the laundry room. In our new home in Iowa I have no pantry and not a lot of useable cupboards either. We are down to 3 kids at home now and it will probably be just right when they’re all out of the house, but I’m having to be creative with storage and must run downstairs to the rec-room for restocking things. Trade-offs, right?! I love our house here much better than our old one. 🙂

January 25, 2019 at 6:57 AMThanks Christy! I totally understand the struggle of no pantry because I didn’t have one in my old house either! I definitely had to be creative too. Glad you like your new house better than your old one…that’s a better trade off for sure 🙂 XOXO

January 19, 2019 at 12:09 PMYour pantry looks great! Mine is so unorganized right now. I had it all organized a couple months ago… I don’ know what happened! LOL I like your idea of using the baskets, and those chalkboard labels are too cute!
