DIY Fixes for Your Most Commonly Broken Baking Appliances

Do you have a love for baking? There are few things better than whipping up a tasty treat in the kitchen, but many bakers encounter problems with their appliances from time to time. This post will show you a few DIX fixes for your most commonly broken baking appliances so that you do not have to pay for expensive repairs/replacements. Keep reading to find out more.

Hand Mixer

A hand mixer is a handy tool that can save you a lot of work, but there are many common issues that arise. If you have a mixer that will not turn on or is making a strange noise, you should first check that the cord isnt frayed or damaged, as this could lead to a short circuit. If the cord is fine, try opening the casing and replacing any worn gears (these are often plastic and prone to wear). If the motor doesnt run but the power is on, try replacing the carbon brushes since these can wear over time.

Stand Mixer

The stand mixer is another useful tool that can have a few issues, including a wobbling mixer head or beater attachments that do not spin. Many hand mixers have an adjustment screw that changes the height, so check this first and read the manual to troubleshoot your issue. You can also check and tighten any screws around the head and arm. If the attachments stop spinning, the internal worm gear may be stripped and need replacement. This part takes on a lot of torque and may eventually wear down. You can also use soft shell connectors to protect the electrical wiring from damage.

Toaster Oven

If your toaster oven wont heat up or cooks unevenly, make sure that you are always preheating it to the right temperature – the ideal temperature is 450 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are still experiencing issues, unplug the unit and inspect each heating element for visible breaks. If the oven cooks unevenly, you might have a faulty thermostat that will need to be replaced. If the toaster does not turn on at all, the thermal fuse might have blown, so you simply need to order a compatible fuse and replace it.

Hopefully, the information in this post will come in handy to any baker who experiences an issue with their equipment. It is frustrating when your baking equipment breaks down, but often, it is an issue that you can easily fix yourself without the need for expensive repairs or replacements. Of course, it is always important to check the manual and carry out any repairs safely by making sure that the appliance is disconnected from the power source. When you know how to fix your baking appliances, you can get back to what you love doing most – baking!
