Step away from your vehicle and drop your car keys. Go back inside the house and make these “oven fried” crispy, baked turkey strips, rather than hitting the drive thru for those greasy chicken nuggets. So much healthier for the kids than fast food, and the panko bread crumbs make these strips so crispy, you won’t miss the fact that these aren’t fried!
This is a kid-friendly dinner that is sure to make the whole family happy. Because I don’t care if you are 5-years old or 45-years old, who doesn’t love a good, crispy turkey or chicken strip?! I used turkey tenderloins for my baked strips, but you can use boneless, skinless chicken breasts. And….I made this recipe using ingredients I already had on hand. So when you look at me sideways for brushing mayonnaise on my turkey strips (yes….mayonnaise) before breading them, just remember that we are friends and I would not steer you wrong!
I used Spices Inc Tempero Baiano Seasonings (marjoram, oregano, parsley and pepper are in this seasoning), to season my turkey strips, but you can totally make it your own and use your favorite seasoning spice! And want to make this recipe gluten free? Just use gluten free flour and gluten free panko bread crumbs.
Crispy, Baked Turkey Strips
Print RecipeIngredients
- 2 boneless, skinless turkey breast tenderloins (or chicken tenderloins)- cut into 6-8 strips
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs (option to use gluten free panko bread crumbs)
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Spices Inc Tempero Baiano seasoning (or your favorite seasoning)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (can use gluten free flour)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425-degees. Line a large, rimmed baking tray with foil and spray with baking spray. Set aside.
In a small bowl, combine the panko bread crumbs, parmesan cheese and spices. Sprinkle the flour out onto a plate in an even-ish layer. Line the flour, mayonnaise and bread crumb mixture next to each other. Take each turkey strip and coat both sides in flour. Use a butter knife to smear a light coating of mayonnaise on both sides of the turkey strip. Drop strip in bread crumb bowl and coat both sides thoroughly. Place breaded turkey strip on prepared baking pan and repeat the process with the rest of your turkey strips.
Bake turkey strips in 425-degree oven for 30-minutes or until cooked through and golden brown on top. Cooking time may differ depending on how thin and small you cut your strips.
Serve warm.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. To reheat, place turkey strips in 350-degree oven until warmed through. Microwaving them will make the breading mushy.
We served these crispy strips with steamed green beans. Kind of like a french fry?? Hahahah just kidding. Green beans aren’t even close to french fries. But we love green beans more than french fries at my house. SERIOUSLY!
However, my Baked Sweet Potato Fries are a big hit and would be perfect with these crispy strips! Recipe HERE.
So tell me….
-
What’s your favorite fast food meal??
-
Have you ever baked your own crispy strips?
-
Were you questioning how the mayonnaise would work on these crispy strips?
Leave me a comment below!!
XOXO,
