An easy candy recipe, made in one bowl, in the microwave, that is ready within minutes! These crunch bars are similar in taste ti that classic Crunch candy bar, but with a few add-in’s to make them even better. And the glory of the (optional) add-in’s are that you can add whatever you like to make these bars EXACTLY what you want them to be!
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THESE:
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- vanilla extract
- crispy rice cereal
OPTIONAL ADD-IN’S:
- creamy peanut butter
- crushed granola
For my optional add-in, I crushed 1/2 cup of My Favorite Indulgence Classic Almond Granola. You could add anything you want though! More crispy cereal, M&M’s, chocolate chips, sprinkles, nuts…whatever your heart (and tummy) desires!
Chocolate Crunch Bars
Print RecipeIngredients
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
- OPTIONAL:
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup crushed granola (or your desired add-in)
Instructions
Line a baking dish with foil and spray the bottom with baking spray and set aside. Use an 11x5 inch pan for thicker bars or a 9x13-inch pan for thinner bars.
In a microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stopping to stir the mixture at every interval. Continue cooking until the chocolate chips have melted completely and are incorporated into the sweetened condensed milk. This process takes approximately 90-seconds. Remove the bowl from the microwave.
Stir in the salt and vanilla extract. If adding the optional peanut butter, add it now. Stir until incorporated. Stir in the crispy rice cereal and any add-in's.
Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish, in an even layer. Option to sprinkle more crispy rice cereal on top. Allow bars to cool and set completely before cutting into desired sized squares or rectangles.
Notes
Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for firmer bars, or at room temperature for softer bars.
TIPS:
- If you want to make these bars more like the Crunch bars, then use a 9×13-inch pan so they are thinner and cut them into candy bar sizes
- Store in the refrigerator if you want them crispier or room temperature for a softer bite
XOXO,
Kelly
