Rice flour, a little butter, garlic powder, garlic paste, salt and water are all you need to make these chips that are perfect for snacking on. These chips are baked in the oven…and if you think that making your own chips is difficult, think again! I am showing you step-by-step how to make these. Including how to make your own rice flour.
This post is sponsored by Mahatma Rice. I received product and compensation in exchange for writing a blog post showcasing Mahatma Rice. All thoughts, opinions and photos are my own.
Did you know that you can grind up rice to make your own rice flour?! All you need is a food processor and Mahatma rice of course. Once you have your rice flour, you can use the rice flour to make these yummy chips. These chips are easy to mix together (one bowl) and roll out easily…so don’t let the sight of the rolling pin scare you. And the smell of garlic rice chips baking in the oven….Mmmm.
To easily grind your rice into a flour, I recommend adding a teaspoon of water (or more depending on how much rice you are grinding), to get the rice damp. Just don’t add too much water though…you don’t want a paste.
To easily roll your chips out, put the dough round on top of a piece of parchment paper and top it with another piece of parchment paper.
Roll THIN…you want crispy chips! Then use a knife to cut into the desired shape you want your chips. Brush on some garlic butter, sprinkle some salt on top and bake!
Baked Garlic Rice Chips
Print RecipeIngredients
- DOUGH:
- 1 cup rice flour (I used Mahatma Organic White Rice, ground into a flour)
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon canola oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1/4 cup water (or less)
- GARLIC BUTTER TOPPING:
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
- salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400-degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
DOUGH: In a medium sized bowl, stir together the rice flour, melted butter, oil, salt, garlic powder and garlic paste. Slowly add the water to the bowl, adding just enough water to create a workable dough. You don't want the dough to be too dry or too sticky. Knead the dough into a ball and place on the middle of your parchment paper lined baking sheet. Place another sheet of parchment paper on top, and roll the dough out so it is very thin (approximately 1/8-inch).
Cut the dough into chips using a sharp knife. You do not need to separate the chips before baking.
GARLIC BUTTER TOPPING: In a small bowl add the melted butter and garlic paste. Stir until combined. Use a pastry brush to brush the garlic butter on top of the dough. Sprinkle salt on top.
Bake chips in 400-degree oven for 15-minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove baked chips from the oven and let sit on the baking pan until set. Transfer to a bowl and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature.
These chips don’t even need any dip…which makes this the perfect appetizer for snacking on for my basketball fans out there who are getting ready for March Madness! You will score big points if you make these chips for your March Madness party!
You might want to go ahead and just make two batches of these chips…they will quickly disappear 😉
I used Mahatma Organic Rice to make the flour used in my chips. Are you familiar with Mahatma?? If you live in the US, I’m sure you have seen it on store shelves. March 10, 2018 at 8:17 PMI don’t think I’ve ever baked anything with rice flour, but as a fan of savory cookies/crackers/crisps, etc, I do like this version. Also, I don’t know why I’ve got this feeling, but they look like being made with cheese 😉

March 11, 2018 at 9:34 PMYears ago rice was used for cosmetics because of the healing properties, wouldn’t it be great if they would bring back the line again.?
